Basic Grey Mini Album--Part One

Happy Friday!

Do you all have a great weekend planned?  We have a busy one that is for sure.  Tonight hubby  has a high school reunion.  So we are going to that.  Saturday we have a birthday party for one of Jack's friends.  Families are all invited to come for lunch.  Jack is soooo excited.  Then we have a family BBQ to go to on hubby's side of the family.  The boys will have a blast playing with their cousins and then on Sunday I need to finish getting ready for my retreat.  I am  getting so excited!

At Simply Scrapbooks I make some of the displays.  Various manufacturers put together kits to sell and then the store needs to make on for display.  Well this is the case with this project.  Here is the mini album from Basic Grey

There are so many pages to put them all in one post that I thought I would break them up here and there.

I like this line but it is definitely for an older child (in my opinion).  I would not use the paper for my Jack going off to Kindergarten.  I like more child oriented themes I guess.  The paper is really cool in this and the brads and sticker sheets are awesome.

Well I hope everyone has a great day and weekend.  I will MIA next week.  I will post once I get back from my amazing retreat (hopefully).

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I will see you soon!

Happy Thursday

Wow this week is flying by!  Does it seem that way to you all?  We are having Michael's bedroom painted today.  I am starting to change his room from a nursery to a big boy's room.  The powder blue walls will be gone today.  Makes me a touch sad.  In a couple of weeks his new furniture will be delivered-- my baby is growing up.  Sigh:(

Well I got the Basic Grey mini album done.  I will take pictures today and hopefully have them ready for tomorrow's post.  I think it turned out pretty good.  The kit is amazing!!

1-2-3 Jump

This is a layout using the Burlap and Buttercups July kit.  It featured Echo Park, Jillibean Soup and MME paper.  It ROCKED!!  Please head on over there to check it out.  I will be posting some sneak peeks of the August kit pretty soon!

This layout I used the Echo Park and American Crafts paper and thickers.  Great combo I think.  This is hubby and Jack jumping in the pool.  I love the pictures of the two of them! way too cute

Thinking of You Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday,

This is just a quick post today.  Last month I really just wanted to play with my stamps and ink so I came up with this card.

1.  Cut 2 die cuts using the Tim Holtz dies.
2.  On one, I stamped my background stamp with the Antique Linen distress ink.
3.  I then used the same ink with the blending tool and inked up the die cut.
4.  Next I inked up my stamp with various colors of the distress ink ( faded jeans, shabby shutters, barn door, scattered straw)
5.  I stamped my greeting with memento tuxedo black ink
6. I then stamped the image on the card.
7.  On the plain die cut I placed it on my scoring board and scored one inch at the top of the card.
8.  I placed adhesive to the scored inch part.
9.  I placed my stamped die cut on top of the other.
10.  The card opens at the top.
11.  I then added some various Hero Arts gems and pearls

My new love is to have shaped cards and this die cut is perfect for that.  I also loved making this card because my fingers got all inky and messy and I love it when that happens!

Supplies
hero arts, distress ink, tim holtz dies

I hope everyone has a fantastic Wednesday and I will be back tomorrow with what I don't know but I am sure I can find something (hehehehehe).  Thanks for stopping by and see ya tomorrow!

Hello Tuesday

A Big Hello!

I have been so busy lately and having a blast I  must say.  I have been making kits for my scrapbooking retreat next week. I am getting so excited.  I am sure you all will be soooo bored with me talking about it.  I have made 11 projects so far for me to work on.  I thought it was going to be a pain but it is not.  It is actually moving right along.

Today I am taking a break from kit making and heading to the store and scrap with the girls.  They don't know it yet but I am taking my camera to take pictures.  I totally want to scrap about the my Tuesdays Scrapping with the Ladies.  I have had a really fun time.  I am so sorry we only have 2 more Tuesdays left and then it is back to reality and back to work.  I need a paycheck so that I can buy some of the wonderful CHA goodies. hehehehehehehehehehe  Anyhoo today I will be working on my Basic Grey mini album for the store.  I started yesterday and it is going pretty well.  We shall see.

I have so much going on but for once I do not have a project to post that is photographed and resized etc.  So I am going to share one of my favorite pictures of the summer.  We went to a butterfly exhibit a couple of weeks ago and I captured this amazing photo of a flower with 3 baby caterpillars on it.  LOVE IT!

So amazing!!!

I will be back tomorrow with my Wednesday card--yes I have that ready! hehehehe  Thanks so much for stopping by and I will see you all tomorrow1

Echo Park Fresh Face Challenge

Hey Everyone,

Echo Park is having a monthly challenge to be their "Fresh Face". As you know I LOVE Echo Park and I wanted to enter their challenge.  As some of you know I teach a monthly sketch layout class at my local scrapbook store Simply Scrapbooks and this month I made a kit with 3 layouts and 2 cards using the Summertime paper collection and I thought I would share these projects.

Summer Days

In this layout I made a two pager.  I started out with making a 9 inch circle as the mat to put my pictures.  I then added various strips of pattern paper .  I love adding and layering many different papers to add color and dimension to the projects.  I then went to my journaling card sheet and stickers to add embellishments.

I did add some dots and stripes paper to create a border around my ice cream sheet.  I love how the dots and stripes can coordinate with the other lines.

Summertime

This is another two pager.  I cut my paper into 4 squares (6x6) and then I made a border using my border punches.  I did this on the top and bottom.  To add embellishments I once again went to the handy dandy sticker sheet.  I LOVE clouds and had to had my sun and clouds on the sheet.  As a little bit of fun I also took the saying stickers and pop dotted them onto the pop dotted sun and clouds. I love to add dimension to my layouts without a lot of bulk so therefore I love pop dots.

This line is just perfect for scrapping our trip to Kings Island.  The boys had such a wonderful time.

The Grass is always greener with you.

This layout is one of my favorites because it has a photo of my son taking a walk with my mom.  Priceless!

One of the things that I love to do is save every little scrap of paper.  I consider myself to be a frugal scrapper and I like to get the most of my paper.  By saving the scraps I can create cards and layouts.   I teach my students that you can make an entire layout using scraps and this layout demonstrates that.

For this layout I cut various papers into rectangular shapes and just layered them on top of each other.  I kind of created a quilt of paper.  After arranging them I went to my sticker sheet and added the clouds and sayings.  I went to my journaling card sheet and found a fantastic journaling tag.  I love the little bird that matched the bird on my title.

Quick and Easy Cards

In my kit for my students I like to show them how to make quick and easy cards that use the scraps of your projects.  Here are 2 that we made in class using the scraps and the left over stickers from the sticker sheet.

As you can see my style of scrapping is clean and simple, but I like to have fun with my layouts.  I hope these projects demonstrate my style.

It would be a total honor to be the guest designer over at Echo Park.  I so love the collections.  The products are so versatile, and the paper is totally yummy!  Thanks so much for having this fantastic opportunity.

I hope everyone has a great day!  I will be back tomorrow with another project.  Thanks for stopping by!

July's Imaginisce Challenge

Hello and Welcome to Siehled With A Kiss,
Can you believe that it has been one year of me entering the Imaginisce challenges?  I look forward to them every month.  I love their products and always have so much fun creating a new layout  or card.  (I do think it is about time I win though-hehehehehehehhehe--just kidding--well maybe just a little.)

Well this month the challenge was to create a layout using this amazing sketch by Aphra Boyler.

and to add a little bit of fun we decided to challenge you all to using a monochromatic colour scheme.

O.K. I have to tell you the truth I had a hard time with this one.  For me it was the monochromatic that got me.  I went through all my papers and finally picked the Animal Crackers line.

I knew I had the perfect pictures for this layout with the popcorn and family movie night.  I really liked how it turned out.

Supplies
cardstock- bo bunny
paper-chipboard-embellishments- imaginisce

What is everyone doing for the weekend?  I have a sketch layout class that I am teaching.  I will post pictures tomorrow for it.  I used Echo Park.  Then we don't have anything else --hip hip hooray!  I want to relax a bit this weekend

Thanks for stopping by today.  I will be back on Monday.  See you then!

Sketchy Thursday!

Wow, is this week moving fast or what?  I blinked and it is Thursday already.  I have been so busy.  I know I keep saying this but wow.  I really need to slow down.  I have been making things for my lss displays.  I worked on 2 Basic Grey card kits and I have a mini album to create now.  I had fun though cropping with the girls on Tuesday.  Plus I have to get kitting for my class on Saturday.  I have a sketch layout class.  I am taking a month off from teaching next month.  I am really happy about that.  I want to enjoy my last 3 weeks of summer before I head back to work.  I have some great ideas for a class in September so we shall see.

When I say this wonderful sketch from Sketchy Thursdays I knew I had to play along with it.  I LOVED this sketch and it was perfect for my pictures.  Here is the sketch:

And you Also had to  include:
• A summer topic
• The colors red, orange and/or yellow
• A journaling spot

Well Here is my take:

I used my July kit from Burlap and Buttercups to create this layout.  I just love their kits.  My boys had such a great time decorating our yard for our 4th family cookout.  So much fun!  I was able to incorporate all of the requirements.

Well I hope everyone has a great day.  I will be back with another layout.  (It feels good to post some layouts-hehehehe).  Thanks so much for stopping by and I will see ya tomorrow!

Some Odd Girl Challenge

Hello and Happy Monday,

Wow is it just me or did that weekend go by soooo fast.  I blinked and it was over.  Saturday I had my card class and then came home. Jack had a play date with a friend over at our house so there was a ton of activity. Next it was time for dinner and then bingo--bedtime.  Sunday was more of the same.

I happened to stumble on a couple of weeks ago Some Odd Girl Stamps and I fell in love with their stamps.  They are so cute and they have boy images.  You don't have many of them.  I really fell in love with tiny tobie.  I think he is so cute.  Well they offer challenges on their site and I had to enter this one.  It was lift an "odd girl" ( the odd girls are the design team).  So for this challenge I chose Carlie to scrap lift.  I think her cards are just so adorable.  Here is the post and card that I chose. Click HERE

Here is my take Carlie's card using tiny tobie.

Once again I used all my scraps from my Burlap and Buttercups July kit.

So what's on every one's agenda for the week?  Me?  I have a pretty busy week ahead.  I have some projects that I need to finish for my local scrap store.  As I have mentioned before I will make my layouts for the design team but I will also do projects for  display.  I have several Basic Grey kits that I need to put together.  I also am starting to make up kits because I am going in early August on a scrap retreat with a girl friend.  I want to make about 12 kits or so.  I have 2 made up so far.  Plus I have some doctor appointments and  odds n ends to accomplish.

I want to thank everyone for stopping by today.  I will be back tomorrow with a new card from Summer Camp.  This is the last week of camp.  Thanks for stopping by and I will see you tomorrow!

Jillibean Soup Card Class

Hello,

Wow this week went so fast for me.  How about you?  I have been busy every second.  Today I need to finish one more sketch and layout and then I will be good for the weekend.  Saturday is my class.  I am excited about it.  I have a good turn out and it should be fun.  Plus the store is having a huge sidewalk sale to make room for all the new products for CHA.

Well here is a look at the 6 cards my students will make in their class.

I just love love this line from Jillibean and it is my first class using it.  I just screams Summer!!!

Do you all have a busy weekend?  We sure do!! Class Saturday morning, errands (we are out of EVERYTHING--Sam's Club here we come!), a graduation for hubby's niece on Sunday and then we need to squeak in some family time just the 4 of us!

I hope you have a great weekend!  I will be back on Monday.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Thursday!!!

Hey Everyone,

Hope your week is going well here. Mine is going great but I sure did get side tracked yesterday. I was at Jack's swim lesson and I pulled up netflix and started watching a movie that I wanted to watch- Secretariat--and I got lost in the movie. It was sooooo good. I love those types of movies. Plus I remember watching the races when I was a little girl. It was awesome! So instead of scrapping and or exercising I watched a movie. Hubby said I need to do that more often because I am always on the go. Maybe I should take his advise but I just have so much to do.

Here is a layout I did for the June Burlap and Buttercups with the July kit. I have to say I love this kit so much.

(Sorry the picture is a little fuzzy--I don't know what happened)

This is a picture of Michael in the pool in Florida. He had such a great time

A "Fishy" Tuesday

Happy Tuesday,

Well did you have a good day yesterday.  We did!  Jack had swim lessons and then we went to a Butterfly Exhibit but guess what?????? There weren't any butterflies.  We saw tons of catepillars but no butterflies.  We are going back next week so hopefully we will see some then.  We were under a heat advisory so we did not go outside all afternoon.  Sooooo I was able to get some scrappin in.  I loved it!  Right now is crunch time for me to get everything done for the store, challenges, card camp and DT work.  I think sometimes I work best when there is a deadline.

Today's card is a card I made with the July kit from  Burlap and Buttercups.  This kit is awesome.  Head on over there to see it.

Happy Monday

Hey there,

Did you have a nice weekend?  Boy, we sure did.  Saturday hubby worked out in the yard and the boys and I hung together.  Then hubby and I had a date night.  We celebrated our anniversary.  The actual day is Tuesday, but we celebrate on Saturday.  We had a wonderful dinner and just had a good time.  Sunday we did the typical things-church, donuts, and then hung out.  I scrapped a bit.  Jack and I went to pick up some kits at my lss.  I am going to be busy! Then after dinner we went to the pool and hung out for a bit after the sun went down.  Just splendid.

I wanted to share with you my layout I made that was published in Scrapstreet Emagazine.  It is the first layout on page 17.  Click HERE to see it.  I used Echo Park For the Record for this layout.  I just love how it turned out.

I also wanted to share with you a quick card I made using the Burlap and Buttercups July kit.  This kit is soooo awesome.  There are so many goodies in this kit.  Here I used Echo Park Splash paper and combined it with a Some Odd Girl stamp that I had in my stash.  I think he is so cute.  There aren't many boy stamps out there.

Have a great weekend!

It's Friday!!!!!

Happy Friday,

So glad the weekend is here!  We really do not have any big plans at all.  I LOVE that!  I really just want a low key family weekend.  I do need to get some scrapping in.  I love making cards and the Summer Camp is so much fun but I miss my scrapbooking.  I just need to sit down and print some pictures and I will be ready to GO!

For my Summer Camp sketch assignment I chose the first sketch.  I had been wanting to do a card with my scraps from the paper left over from this layout and this sketch was just perfect for my scraps.  (You see I don't throw away anything.  What I don't use I give to my kids to play with.)

Hey everyone,
I hope everyone is having a fun week.  I just have been swamped.  I worked 5 hours on Tuesday prepping for my card class next weekend.  In a way I hope I don't have anymore sign ups because I will have to get all the stuff back out and the store is out of some of the paper--very stressed.  it will all work out! right?

Over at Some Odd Girl Stamps they were have a challenge to make a bright and bold card. I loved this challenge because every Wednesday is mail day at Jack's summer camp.  I like to make little cards for him and he LOVES that I make them especially for him.  So here is next week's card.

Wednesday Card

hey everyone,

Tuesday's video showed the technique of emboss resist.  I have taken many of Jennifer's classes and did this technique and always loved it; however, the embossing part was done for us.  Well, I realized that I am NOT a good embosser.  I had lots and lots of problems but I did my best with the challenge.

Here is my take on the embossed resist technique.

As you can see I am not Jennifer Mcguire, but I tried it all on my own and I think the results are decent.  Not perfect, but not horrible either.

Friday

Happy Friday and Long Weekend to Everyone,

I am so happy that we have a long weekend.  We have a lot going on but it should be fun.  Saturday we need to get the back yard and house ready for our family cook out on Sunday.  All of hubby's family will be here and a ton of kids.  We are getting out the sprinklers and bounce house for the kids.  It should be fun! Then on Monday we just have a quiet family day.

Yesterday I went to Archiver's and I have to say  I was a very good girl!!! They had the coupon of buy 3 cardstock and get 3 and I did that, and they had a coupon for 30% off one item.  For this item I got a 1 1/2 inch circle punch and that was it!!!!! I was so happy.

Later that day I made another layout from my July Burlap and Buttercups.  You have to pop on over there and check out this AMAZING KIT.  There is so much stuff-jillibean soup-my minds eye-echo park-jenni bowlin-doodlebug-ribbon and matching cardstock.  What a deal.  I will be showing my layouts next week.

As you know I am participating in the online Summer Card Camp.  The Tuesday's class topic was to make a card with a window.

Here is my take.  I used a hero arts note card and stamped it with coordinating ink.  I then punched a circle on it.  I then punched a white circle of neenah cardstock and stamped it with memento ink.  I colored my peacock  with copics.  Next I used a small sheet of acetate and covered the back side of the front of the card.  This created the window.  On the acetate I then put some bling from hero arts.  As Jennifer said in the class "this creates a floating effect"  The gems look like they are "floating in air". Finally I stamped my greeting.  I love how it turned out.

Supplies
cardstock-neenah, hero arts
stamps-hero arts
ink-memento, hero arts
gems-hero arts

Well I hope everyone has a fantastic day.  I will actually be back tomorrow because I am behind in my class and I need to get caught up.  You know I hate being behind _heheheheheh-.  So have a great safe and happy 4th of July if you are taking the weekend off from the blog world.  See you later!
